Let's Talk Students interviewing Claire about “Eastenders”

This is an interview of my Let's Talk students to Claire McGuire about the soap opera Eastenders.

Alberto: In which channel is it on?

Claire: It's on BBC One.

Idoia: What year did it start?

Claire: It was first broadcast in 1985

Marta: How many days a week can you watch Eastenders?

Claire: Mm, I think it is four times a week

Marta: And what happens if you miss an episode?

Claire: Usually there's a repeat on Sunday but if not, you can watch it on I-player in the internet

Cristina: Why is it so popular?

Claire: Mm, it's popular because it deals with lots of issues to do with everyday life; it's about the community, normal people

Lorena: How long is it?

Claire: Each episode is about 30 minutes

Alba: What is your opinion about this programme?

Claire: I like it but I prefer Coronation Street because Eastenders is a bit depressing (Not true; the real reason is that Coronation Street is set in Manchester, her home town!!)

Sarai: In which city the soap opera is set?

Claire: It's set in London, but it's set in a town that's not real; Walford is not real (Eastenders makes you think of the Eastend of London, where Cockneys are from)

Zipi (Alejandra): Who are the most important characters?

Claire: The most important family that's been in the soap for years is the Mitchells

Miriam: Who are Ronnie and Roxy Mitchell?

Claire: Ronnie and Roxy Mitchel are Phill Mitchell's cousins.
